Rain Leaks into Parliament in Paris
The storm also impacted the capital, Paris. Lightning struck around the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, and winds exceeding 100 km/h caused panic in the city. Rain leaking into the Parliament building led to a temporary suspension of a session on Middle East conflicts. Within just 20 minutes, the temperature in Paris dropped by 11°C.
Power Outages and Infrastructure Damage
More than 100,000 homes lost electricity due to the storms. Emergency services worked intensely across the country to manage road closures, flooding, and transportation disruptions. Particularly in central and southern France, serious infrastructure damage was reported. Meteorological services issued severe storm warnings for 57 departments.
